Violin String Reviews

String ID Guide – Identify the strings on a violin
This link to a PDF file on violinstringreview.com can be very helpful when you want to identify the strings on a violin. It shows the color coding of most brands of strings.

Shoulder Rests

Korfker Shoulder Rest
This shoulder rest is pricey but worth every one of the $400+ it costs to buy it. It is infinitely adjustable, and feels like it weighs nothing. I have used many shoulder rests over the past 5 decades, but this one is the best so far. There is a less expensive model that has fewer adjustment options.

AcoustaGrip ‘Concert Master Thick’ Violin Shoulder Rest–Fits 3/4 and Full Size Violins and Violas
The best thing about this product is that it adheres to the back of the violin. I have been using this one now for a few years. I bought the thick pad, but had to cut some of it away to fit me better.

Chinrests

Wave Chin Rest
This is the chin rest I use now. and will do so for the rest of my violin playing career. I love it because of the extra jaw support. You can even order a small pack in different heights.

Custom Chin Rests

SAS Chinrests
These chinrests come in different heights and the angle is adjustable. I used to use the 32mm with a low shoulder pad. These chin rests are ideal for those with long necks and/or shorter jaws.

Accessories

Rosin

The Original Bernardel Rosin For Violin – Viola – Cello
I and all my colleagues use this rosin. It has a clean finish and grabs without the excess “fluff” in the tone.

Music Stand

Kraftgeek Music Stand
I adore this lightweight, super easy to carry stand. I have two. One lives in my car. Check out my Review on Youtube.
