Beth, thank you for all of your efforts in creating a website that offers fantastic videos, interviews with other professional violinists and resources to make learning the violin fun and much easier than it was without your talent for simplifying the complex.  I am so glad that I found your website.  Also, thank you for linking violinlab to Diane Allen's workshop this morning.  The hour flew by.

Beth, it was wonderful to actually speak with you today !

Thank you and Diane so much for taking the time and making the effort to do this workshop !   I hope we can have more like this, it was great !

I found it helpful to see the workbook and get an idea of how it works.  I think it would be a very handy tool to have and would help me out a great deal.  Thanks again !

Beth's "Slow Motion Vibrato" video on utube is the best demonstration and explanation of vibrato I have ever seen.  It is particularly helpful to watch the angle of the fingers up close in slow motion.  Nice photography. I wish that video was part of Violinlab.

I just saw this on Facebook, and thought it was so cool. I got goosebumps when the clarinet came in.

I bought a set of Pirastro Tonica strings the other day - they were greatly reduced and as I haven't tried them before but want to, I jumped at the chance to buy a set while they were cheap.  The thing is, I'm not planning on changing the strings that are on my violin for about a year as I've just put a new set of Vision's on - so my question:  How long will strings last, unused, kept in the packets?

Thanks!

Simon

Ray

I'm not one for too many tears but everytime I watch this video I do.  Perlman makes a direct connection between his emotions, his instrument, and with the audience.  I will make this a goal to put all my emotions into what I'm playing.  I've listened to violinists who have just played the notes and others, like Perlman who put themselves into their music.

Beth, thank you for putting me on  this path of seeing the emotions in and inbetween those swiggles and dots in the page.  Now I have a goal I just have to learn how to do it.  Back to practicing.

Cheers,

Ray
