I can'n wait to play the violin passage of my own song finally on the real violin.

Until there, there are many practice sessions needed.  I did a careful experiment with this - Oh my! it sounds very nice !

The notes are not so tricky but the tempo is.

Here is my Song

Maybe if anyone interested to play the part himself - you are cordially invited !

Have a nice Weekend !

Does anyone know what is this piece Ann Marie Calhoun is playing here:

Sounds very cool :)

And also, does that "trick" have a name she's doing starting at 0:40? Sounds like she's altering bow pressure quite heavily to produce that interesting effect...

(HA! her E whistled too at 2:29 )

What are the downsides, if any to precision (perfection) pegs?  I am considering the investment.

I've been taking lessons and teaching myself for about 5 years, so am, according to one teacher, about 2nd level in my playing. My question is this: How can I find an amateur group to practice and play with? Anybody know anybody in the Los Angeles area?

Thanks for all responses.

Hi everyone, this question is not exactly about any issue with the violin lol.. i've been having problems uploading a picture of mine on my page; it suppose to be a jpg* file, but I don't know why I can't upload it.When I press "submit changes " button. The pic just doesn't appear.

Does somebody have  had issues about  this?

Is it possible for a tuner to be out of tune?  when I play along with videos, the pitch is a lot higher than what my tuner says my violin should be. I would think it was the computer but it would have to be 3 computers and an MP4 player.  How do i verify this or fix it?

Hello All!

I just purchased a "practice" violin and I will be putting new strings on it shortly. This will be a trial and error as I truly have no idea what Brand of strings will sound the best on my violin. With that in mind, I know that some of you have "tried" different strings and some strings you liked and some you didn't. My question to you is what do you do with the strings you didn't like? Do you keep it on your violin and suffer with it until your next string overhaul or do you just put it aside and let it collect dust?

As far as I know, you can't return strings that you purchased and don't like the sound they produce. Since we all experiment with different strings, I was wondering if we could setup a "string exchange" where we would swap these NEW strings that we simply don't want to have on our violin?

This is just a suggestion, but I think it would be nice and fairly inexpensive to swap these NEW strings instead of letting them sit around. Not only that, it may save us all some cash on the long run when we are experimenting with NEW strings for our violin.

Please post your comments and/or suggestions. I'd love to hear what our community thinks.
