Hi, Iam  having problems viewing the video content today.  When I attempt to view a video I get a grey warning triangle with the message "Video forbidden this video is private". I joined violin lab yesterday and was able to view the content fine but today Iam having problems!  I have tried logging out and back in again and the site recognises my userid and password.  I can download pdf files from members resources but I cannot view the videos. Is this a general problem or is it just me ! Hopefully someone out there can help Thanks.

Hello! I am a new member to the community and have watched 30+ video lessons on my IPhone 4. Starting today, the IPhone no longer loads and plays the videos. I can access the videos just fine on my desktop and laptop at home. Has anyone had a similar problem and can recommend a fix? Thanks, Mike J.

Is there a general rule on how to bow a quarter note? One stroke or two? Half note? Whole note? Etc.

I'm an old (literally) trumpet player and without a mouthpiece, well... I've searched here for a general rule and also on YouTube but so far have encountered only a lot of seeming contradiction. I can copy the videos on a particular chart, of course, but when I encounter something new that's not on the videos...

Happy new year to fellow Violin Lab friends!  Yes, it's been that long since I last posted as I've been relocating 300 miles north due to work.  As well as a new job and finding a new house, I now need to find a new teacher!  Here in West Yorkshire there seem to be two groups of teachers: those who earn a living by teaching and do amateur or semi-pro playing on the side, and those who play regularly in professional orchestras (there are at least 4 in the near area!) and do teaching on the side.  Although I realise a lot depends on the individual teacher, I'd be interested in hearing who you think, in general, would give the 'best' musical training and have all the tips and tricks?

Thanks!

Aaargh!!!!   Turns out Viddler, the site that hosts my videos is undergoing a major interface/website change. The window I get when I try to log says it's "Down for Maintenance".  I hope it will be resolved very soon.. I will be trying like crazy to get someone on the phone.

I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I'm sure it will be fixed soon. They really are a great company.

My parents bought me the Basics by Simon Fischer book on violin technique for my birthday and, wow, there is a lot more to playing the violin than I ever thought!!  It is a great resource...I recommend it! :-)

Is there any extraneous reason why I should get a squeak bowing C sharp on the A string? Am I pressing the string down too hard? I am having trouble keeping from gripping the neck. Do I need to bear down more on the string with the bow? This is very annoying.

Hi Beth, Just tried to order "A Rhythm A Week-Violin" by Alfred through your website. It is currently unavailable and they don't know if and when they will have more in stock. However, "Rhythm A Week for Strings: Rhythm Units in Unison Using Major and Minor Scales" by Anne C. Witt is available. Will Anne Witt's book match the audio sounds that you have loaded into the Rhythm A Week video? Thanks.
