Hi Beth, what are your recommendations regarding humidifiers?

Hi Todd, I live in the northeast. Here we have hot humid in the summer and then winter gets very dry in the house from running baseboard heating. My violin is very old, if it gets too dry I get some vibrations and buzzing when I play. I use a cylinder type humidifier that clips into the case. I close the violin up in the case every night and then leave the case open all day. This seems to work very well for my violin. If I forget to close the case a few nights in a row I have to play through the buzzes till I can close it up again for a night or two. The only issue I have....is that the varnish is coming off up at the scroll near where the humidifier clips to the case. I would keep an eye out for possible issues like that if you choose to use a humidifier.
