We'd love to hear it, if you get around to video taping yourself again.  Remember, this is a song, and songs by nature have many repeated consecutive notes. The words to the song provide meaning, so that repetition is not apparent. But on the violin, it can just sound like lots of repeated bow strokes. That's where dynamics (crescendos and diminuendos) help. If you post a video, please post or email me the music too, and I can give more specific suggestions.

Hello Beth,

The program is for the Independence of India. I have played one and I have to make it better.

sorry Paul, it's just that in your initial post you did not really 'specify' anything at all so it was a bit difficult to guess what exactly it was that you were looking after.

I know I can't generalise and I can't speak for everybody, but I would say that many (not everybody) classical trained violinist would not be very comfortable to come up at the drop of the hat with 'improvising' things especially if they are of a different style like this.
Well, I know I wouldn't for a start and I have been learning violin for four and a half years.

I thought the video of that boy I posted was rather good actually and I would call him a violinist, he played (in my opinion) rather well up to what seemed 3rd or 4th position and had good vibrato, I know you could not see him well, but it sounded good to me.

Hi Paul,  I honestly don't think a classical violinist would do this piece justice. One of the wonderful things I heard when you posted your first video, was that Eastern style of ornamentation, those little decorative notes and slides in specific places that make this music what it is. I can't do a convincing job of that. My attempts would sound rather contrived. If I were the one having to perform it on a program however, I would try and imitate the singers as closely as I could, since this is meant to be sung. What is your program for?

Hi Paul,
I have done a quick 'google' search for you and I found this:

one person gave a link to a 'piano' sheet music and the person says you can play the indian national anthem from this piano score if you read just the 'top notes' from the 'treble' staff on the piano score.  The link for the piano score is this:

when you get to the page just right click anywhere on the page and then select either 'print' to print it or 'save as' to save it to your computer.

Hope this helps :)
