How do you view sounding points? Are they something just used for volume and necessity, or are they truly artistic tools for varied effect--or perhaps something else to you.

As in math, there is an order of operations that can help with coordination: articulation, then bow. articulation, the placement of the fingers, bow, self explanatory. As with sight reading, it also helps to think ahead as you advance and prepare to place your fingers a few notes ahead at minimum, and if a difficult passage, a couple measures ahead. When working with etudes, breathing also becomes important, and as Mimi Zweig nearly sermonizes: relax, relax, relax. Play the etudes slowly, until you can incorporate all this, and it 'should' help.

I'm working on Etude in Suzuki Bk.1 and often have trouble coordinating the bow with the fingers.
