Hello everyone!

I was just wondering about if there are any plans in place already for the Austin Violin Master Classes during Summer 2012?

Is this really going to take place?

I'd like to know in advance so that I can book a hotel and airline reservations. I usually plan my vacations at least 1 year in advance, so it would be nice to know if this is a go or not. I'll be commencing my research for hotels and airlines as soon as it is confirmed and a date is set.

Early bird gets the worm. ;-)

Absolument, le plus le plus joyeux ! Et j'amènerai le saumon confite célèbre de certaines de mon île.Translation:Absolutly, the more the merrier! And I will bring some of my island's famous candied salmon. Everyone has made me more than welcome and one of the great things about this site is the free flow information and the love of all things violin.

Hi Anita, We'd love it if you could make it as well! And I do hope everyone knows that this reunion, no matter what we have lined up in the way of activities, is for violinists at ANY level. I will have something for everyone. I hope no one feels like they wouldn't fit in because they were at a beginning level.

The more the merrier!

Beth, the Master Classes and the visit to the ACMC festival sound like a great idea. I have enjoyed reading everyone's comments. I am a beginning violinist but hopefully by July of 2012 I will be much better than I am now. At least it gives me something to aspire to.

I'm not much into cooking myself, but I certainly don't mind pitching in with friends ! That's one of the best ways to get to know someone....spend some time in the kitchen with em and then enjoy the results together ! :-)

Wow!

I was just joking about the parking lot and Tent City. Talk about "Southern Hospitality"? That is an awesome idea and a great way to get to know some great people. I'd be glad to help out with any cooking or activity while I'm there as well; regardless if I'm staying at someone's house or a hotel. I'm a hands on type of person and I like to earn my keep, besides I love to cook.   :^)

Not a bad idea, Jack! We'll do everything we can for ya'll..supply barbecue, the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Seriously tho', I'm thinking of opening it up to local adult violinists like yourselves, and let them come to the events for free if they can host the out-of-towners. You guys, of course, are guests and won't pay anything.

LOL

Perhaps we could have Beth close down her store's parking lot and we can just make it into a Tent City. All we need is a Port-a-Potty near by.   :-)

Just kidding!   LOL

I've got a "Frag" farmers event coming up this Sat. It's a big gathering of marine aquarium hobbiests for the purpose of selling/trading coral. I've got a small load of coral for sale and Lord willin I'll do well enough with that and have some extra to toss aside for next year.

I might be sleeping under a bush somewhere.....but boy I sure would like to get to this thing !

Heh Fiddlebac, don't sweat it. I'll be going and at the moment I do not even know my scales yet. I hope to have couple of melodies in my repertoire quiver so that I will be able to play with everyone. Jojo, Eileen hope to see you there.

Money is a BIG problem for me, but I want to be there, and will do all I can to be there, even if it means I just pay for the plane and the cheapest hotel and then have to survive on cheap sandwiches and water. Don't care if I don't have money to rent a car and have to walk places, I 'have' to be there. And also, there is the Olympics here in London in july 2012 and I want to run away from al that LOL

The more the merrier. We'll accommodate all levels! Besides, there should be a substantial amount of just hangin' out. And "ya'll" is the native speak!

I prefer hot to cold as well so I don't think the heat will be a problem for me...if I get there. It is a goal so...here's hopin !

I'll buy you all personal fans! I'd rather sweat than shiver any day. In any case, we'll be inside where there's air conditioning!

Thanks Beth!

I have been putting money away since we first mentioned the possibility of doing this. A little bit here and there will make a big difference when it comes time to go.

I'm not too keen on being in the Frying Pan, as I'm not too fond of hot weather, but for this event and a chance to meet you I'll definitely make an exception. I just hope I won't melt. Been to Dallas in mid July and I thought I'd done something really bad in life to deserve that heat. LOL

Looking forward to Austin though. I believe it's a much nicer and friendlier place although I've never been there.   ;^)

Hi Everyone, I'm planning on going as well. Since I'm the person with the least amount of seniority where I work, I will not be able to confirm until the end of November. This is the deadline for setting holidays the following year. I haven't had a vacation in 4 years so spending a week(?) with like minded souls will be great.

Hi Early Bird, Yes, it is really going to happen! I have been waiting to set the dates because I wanted our VL festival to coincide with the Austin Chamber Music Center Festival that takes place annually in July. I spoke with the director a month or so ago, and she hadn't set the dates as of then. The ACMC festival is wonderful. They bring in top notch chamber groups, and I thought it would be fun to go as a group to see a couple of performances. I also thought it might be an opportunity to grab one of their guests and ask them to come and give a clinic at our shindig.

This much I can say: The Violin Lab Reunion (What shall we call it?) will take place in the middle of July 2012.
