Beth,  what do you think of starting a "file" for tunes that members who will be at the workshop can share with one another before the event ?

I'm thinking that we're going to be very busy at workshops and performance events and the like....which will be absolutely "wonderful".....but there may be some downtime in between, or at the beginning/end of the days when we'll have time to just "hang" around at the house or elsewhere.   It would be fun to pull out the fiddles and "jam" and even more fun for everyone if we have tunes that we've had a chance to go over and practice a little before hand.

If folks could post tunes here that they'd like to share, then we can download/copy them and have a chance to work on them a bit so we feel more confident come July.  It's a lot more fun and less frustrating to playing along with a group when you're somewhat familiar with the music.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't think that a full day of playing music, going to workshops and playing more music.....will keep me away from that thing during the times I get a chance to just sit and vegg...lol.    I could be wrong about that.....but I don't think so <:-\

Sorry to hear that Vicky.  But who knows what weather may blow in !  ;-)

Thank you so much to everyone for the encouragement, but Eileen, you're correct.  Medical issues make me worthless in 80+ degree weather.   Austin's heat is just not an option, even with air conditioning (where I have to wear sweatshirts to keep from freezing!).

Now, if July arrives and a cold spell is headed your way, my plans may change!

But it is fun to listen in on all your plans - Beth will be a fantastic teacher and workshop leader - I have no doubt what-so-ever.

I love this site, there is so much learning and encouragement offered here for us middle-aged violin addicts.

ANyone can disrobe to their level of comfort!!

Eileen, already going to do that. I can upload files to the workshop page, I don't quite have anything ready yet. I re-arranged a 4 part tune for beginners, and found a fun 4 violin concerto by Telemann for intermediate/advanced. I'll be uploading them soon so ya'll can get a start on practicing.

I hate to say, but the way I have things planned, there won't be any leisure time. But all classes and events would be optional , so ya'll can always go back for a nap if you need to. And if you want to jam til the wee hours, you go for it!

I'll be sending emails soon with more details. Right now I'm trying to figure out who is going to do what when.

lol. I might be "playing Nekkid", too.  and I'm from the South!  I plan on taking advantage of any air conditioning as well.  I wonder if we'll have to loosen strings when we go back?

Vicky, most of the time we'll probably be indoors in the air conditioning.   Do you have medical reasons for not being able to do high temps ?   If not....don't let that keep you from coming !   Like any place where the temps are usually very warm....just about everywhere you go will have air conditioning....in fact, I plan on bringing along a sweater because I'm always cold where there's air.

Unfortunately, I will not be in Austin - anything over 80 degrees is way tooooo hot in my world.

If you are looking for "playtime" options,  would like to offer this site for additional fiddle tunes with harmonies, even cello if you can get someone to join you.   Jerry Holland is a very well known fiddler and wrote lots of tunes.

Check out the right hand column, there are tunes listed, some may appeal to you and they are already written with harmonies.

Is there any way you could cool down Austin for a week or so?  It really sounds like a fantastic time.
