Hi Robyn:

I went to her web site and now I know exactly what you meant by saying, "entering Wonderland". Ms. Barlowe is certainly in the group of virtuosos of her generation.

My hopes are that Beth or Anne post a video playing pieces from her book, because Im very far from that level.

Absolutely, Robyn. Thoroughly enjoyed your review. What is in your tag line apart from enthusiastic violin student and speed skater? Make sure you add "brilliant writer".

I am studying the last piece in the book right now, in the style of Copland. I feel that it fits the voice of my violin, who happens to be American.

I whole-heartedly agree with your lovely and brilliant assessment of Ms. Barlowe's book. As a teacher I face the dilemma of finding a wide ranging of literature to give my students, not only a comprehensive training in technique, but also in style. It can be daunting, and expensive to build a library of music that represents all style periods, an more so for the intermediate violin student.  Yes, she should change her tag line, and should take up speed skating as well.
