Beth,
When playing vibrato when would you place your finger on the string as a solid note and then vibrate versus vibrating as soon as your finger hits the note on the string?
Thanks.

Gwen, only occasionally if I thought a delayed vibrato would add a special nuance. In the style of a singer. Sometimes we play "modern" music as a string quartet for weddings. parties and such, and we play old tunes from the 30's and 40's. So if there is a schmaltzy long note, I may delay the vibrato. But I rarely do it.
