I don't remember if I mentioned this or not - When you subscirbe you get 10 email lessons that build from 1/2 steps and whole steps on up. One of the first lessons includes the flashcards I used. If you go through and do all the homework on each lesson you'll automate a number of issues. It all helps you to react to reading the music faster. www.fingerboardworkbookseries.com Link to subscribe form http://eepurl.com/c0PwQ

What I got out of the workshop was what I need to focus on, which for me starts with note identification; I'm okay within the staff and one ledger line above and below; then I'll work on interval identification with flats. I've only played pieces with sharps, and in the workshop I was okay identifying whole or half intervals with sharps, but when it went to flats, by brain could not compute!! [Hmmmmmm...this makes me wonder: how long can I say I'm a 'beginner'!? ] I too am glad the video is posted so I can review! |

Ha ! Spent the evening making flashcards ! x-) |

I went back and watched the workshop again and found much that I had missed while it was going on. Apparently because my brain was engaged pondering and thinking about previous information. Beth, I'm so glad this is available for us to view as many times as needed. It's too bad that we can only hear the one on the video speaking. I don't know if there's any way around that, but it would be nice to hear what the other person is saying...I especially noticed the lack during my video question...where I'm just sitting there uh huhing and yepping but nobody could hear what I was responding to. Some information gets missed, but.....there's probably not much you can do about that. What a pleasant morning it was for me today ! Meeting with other violinists from all over... talking and learning "violin". x-) |

Eileen, try the Video Lesson Library on the VL main menu, then browse the video’s list up to the end. The Workshop video is next to the last one. But I just tried from all three different links with no problem. Good luck! Patricia |

Diane, when I click on the link you provided....it just brings me to my homepage...not the workshop video ? I tried clicking on the highlighted fingerboard workshop text in the "recently added" column...same thing. I thoroughly enjoyed this workshop and so look forward to the next one, because I'm quite sure there will be one ! ;-) Great job to the both of you Beth and Diane ! |

Hi Diane and Beth: This is Patricia (Tricia) which anonymously participated in the live/virtual Fingerboard Workshop of today October 8, 2011. During the time that Diane was showing the cards with the notes asking for the steps/half steps (intervals), I pretended that it was a game; then here in front of my computer, I was answering along with everybody and enjoying the imaginary points in my favor when I was right. It was entertaining and also a good mental exercise. Thank you both of you for your time and effort. Patricia PS.- I believe one of the other Patricia in VL members was in the Workshop’s registered group. |

See the video here: Violin Fingerboard Workshop: Oct. 8th 10:00 am central Thank you all for your thanks! Here are some resources that we talked about: www.fingerboardworkbookseries.com (videos, email mini lessons, charts, workbooks) Hrimaly Scale Studies (my students use charts that they make up for reach key signature, play from the chart then play from the scale book) Sitt Op. 32 Book 2 (my students do 3rd position workbook then 3rd position in Sitt. Then 2nd position workbook and 2nd position Sitt, etc.) Smiles! Diane

That was incredibly fast ! Technology is great ! Will this be posted someplace permanent here, so that we can go to it from time to time ? I know I have to go back and listen again to a few spots and work out in my head what was explained. I am very interested in the workbook series, now that I've seen what exactly it is and how it works ! I think it'll be a great help to me to get this fingerboard mapped out properly so I can "intelligently" work myself through a piece instead of winging it on the fly and seeing what happens when I land...lol. Thanks to you Diane and to Beth ! Bravo ! x-) |

Beth - please do! I'd love to join in another one of these. Maybe it will work for the get-together next year for those who can't be there in person. |

That was fun! It's a great virtual classroom. I can think of other topics that would be great to do this way. I'll look into setting up another streaming, and we can try again some time. |

It was excellent! The technology worked so well too and made it easy. Hope we can do more of these in the future. Thanks to Diane for your time, and Beth for setting it up. I'll be in touch about the Workbook! ;o) Simon |
