I'm a just-beginning violinist and am so thankful that I found ViolinLab. Thank you, Beth, for giving me the opportunity to start this journey by learning from you online. I have so much to learn that I remind myself that the only thing that matters is to enjoy the journey and not worry about the destination -- especially when viewing the video of Hilary Hahn's performance!

Even so, my dream is to one day be able to play some of my own musical compositions on the violin rather than rely on others to play for me, as I do now.

Anyway, in case anyone is interested, here's something I composed for violin, viola, cello, and piano. If anyone would like the sheet music, you can download from the link, assuming I did it right.

Thank you, everyone, for your warm welcome.

And Maria, I love that you're composing with your violin and am enjoying your compositions very much.

My method of composing is to hear it in my mind and jot it down into notation on staff paper. Most of my stuff has never been performed except in my own head, though I've had some of my compositions performed here and there. In time, I hope to at least be able to perform some of my simpler violin parts.

I have so much to learn to even get to that point, but I inch along the path, following the breadcrumbs so thoughtfully placed by Beth. :)

Welcome to Vlab,

Excited to hear more of your composition...I am an amateur one as well.

I have the same problem of who would play the accompaniment. So instead I just choose piano pieces that I like and improvise my own violin notes, not the best but helps me express myself. Not aiming for fame but just a way to channel out excessive melodies from my head. Weird sounding but it's real...

What a wonderful thing to anticipate: to one day be able to play your own compositions! I wish you all the patience and endurance this challenging beloved instrument demands from us. And welcome to the community pages :).

Thank you, Beth.

I'm thinking of learning the cello as well. I wonder if your composer friend might be willing to speak with me? Any chance you could ask him? :)

Thank you for sharing your lovely music. Composing I so highly creative. I have a good friend who is a very talented composer and took up cello so that he could lay his own cello tracks rather than have to hire cellists. I look forward someday to hearing you instead of the midi violin!
