Happy :).

I love Henry Szeryng playing Bach. I have not heard anyone play it more convincingly - well, at least to my not very sofisticated musical taste. He just has the kind of intensity/tempo/dynamics that completely resonate with me. I have a recording of him of the Sonatas and Partitias which is one of my favorite records. A week ago I found a recording of him of the Sonatas (BWV 1014 and following). Today it arrived. I can't read the label as it is in Japanese :), but the music is just absolutely beautiful!

Elke, all my life my teachers have idolized the Szeryng Bach recordings. I think I need to listen to them again. Lesley I agree about Gidon Kremer's recordings. He's for sure one of my all time favorite interpreter. He's not afraid to really take chances with style.

I'm going to have to give him a listen! To date my all-time favourite for the Sonatas and Partidas has been Gidon Kremer. It will be interesting to compare.
