I am just back from a week of "masterclass". Here is what I played in the workshop concert: Kurt Weill's Tango Habanera "Youkali" and Bela Bartok's Roumanian Dances No I, IV and VI. Unfortunately, I messed up the beginning of the Weill. Apart from that it went quite well (at least I had enormous fun), but there is always room for improvement. I'd be interested in your comments and suggestions.

Wonderful Anne !  I always love to hear you play and it looks like you had great fun and you sound fantastic !

yes, I agree with Beth, your right hand is particularly good, very good control of your bow, particularly at the frog where 'I' need to improve ;)

That is exactly my next big task, Beth, to make better use of vibrato. My teacher's current approach is to start from the emotional side, to really really feel what I want to express, and let the body find a way to realize that feeling, since apparently I have some tools by now. I find it very challenging to get into that mode on my own while practicing. I worry that I won't get pieces that have some deadline attached ready in time. But it is great to try. And I expect it will become easier with time. Thank you for your comment!

I agree with Jo.  You are getting better and better! You're expressive right hand is especially good.  You are getting such a broad color range in your sound.  Question about vibrato: I noticed it was quite nice in the high section of the Bartok around 8:30 mark.  It was quite lovely and rich, so I know you are capable.  But I don't often hear that vibrato in other melodic passages. Is that intentional?

you are my inspiration, I just hope one day I can play like you :)

you are getting better and better at these recitals as well, you are not showing 'any' nerves in this one at all that I can see!!!

and sorry but I can't see/hear where you messed up LOL
