Ray
Dear Beth, Laurie, and Bill,

I am sitting at the Austin Airport and waiting for my first of 3 connections back to VancouverIsland.  But what to do with my time?  I could try and recall on tips, hints, and puzzled looks Bill gave me during the masterclass.  Or how Beth was ever watchful searching for was to adapt the score to be sure that everyone had a part in the ensemble.  And how we discussed musicality with Laurie.

I will also be reading and studying the many handouts and freely given ideas on how to improve our expressive ability to get closer to the music we all have inside our minds and hearts.

Lastly, I am setting my goals for the next days, months, and year until I am once again sitting here at the now familiar Austin Airport and that welcoming Violin-On-A-stick.

Best,

Ray

I am so happy for you Ray . Must have been really a great time and wonderful experience to be at the Austin workshop. Sure you all have had great masterclasses carefully tailored for each and everyone of you. Beth does such a great job.

Wish one day I might be able to join an Austin workshop :)

Lay-Overs…no problem. Enjoy the Hilton.
Hey Ray…time for some R AND R..you need it after that workshop and final
concert.  : >)   Moving to Austin would be a kick…you could set up shop somewhere down there.  All the best in your travels…safe journey home tomorrow.
Stay tuned. Diane in SoCal
BTW….Bob is going to Univ of New Hampshire next June for Lynne Hannings class on bow restoration. It's two weeks and happens right after Jim's SoCal Violin Makers Workhop.  He has several high-end bows that he needs to restore.

As it turns out I am now considering, very strongly (seriously) in making Austin my home away from home.

Seems like  my first flight has been delayed long enough that I miss all my other connections.  Sooo, Delta is putting me up at the HILTON!  A night at the HILTON, life is rough.  I wonder if my neighbors will complain when they hear the  tronome Beth.  :)))

Austin workshop
Awwww Ray.  How wonderful that you got to go to Austin again.  I remember meeting you for the first time at the airport when we came with the rental car to pick you up. We waited and waited…one of your 3-4 flights was delayed.  Then when we where all together at the rental house with you, Jim (now cello), Mary, Ian and me.  That was the first Austin workshop. Then the second year…Mary, Mary, Joe, you and I decided to do the same house again because it was so much fun and we were now all good fiddle pals.  So many wonderful memories in Austin with Beth and Laurie, the whole workshop group, the music, jamming and all the experiences of being together and yes the shop with the violin popsicle on a stick outside the front door!!!. So happy for you that you where able to go back and again experience such a wonderful place and teachers. I hope to get back there again sometime. In the meantime, practice and let the wood chips fall.  Fiddle hugs.  Diane in SoCal
