Through a set of circumstances I've somehow managed to acquire two copies of Dowani Scales Book 2, alas the cover is a little tatty but the insides are fine.

I'd like to pass it on (free to a good home) ideally to someone in the UK as it would be cheaper for me on the postage. If you'd like it, please post below, so that I know you are a Violin Lab member, and send me your address:

All the best, Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the very generous offer! If you haven't already given the book to someone else I am from UK (Sussex).
I will send you an email as well... just in case. Happy to pay for the p&p expenses though (maybe via Paypal?).

What a kind offer from you Chris! If I was from the UK, I would jump at this offer!

They are wonderful! I still use them, just now I play these slow scales in a different position. But it is just fun to play them with beautiful accompaniment. I put a sample of the first piece in the first book in my Dropbox. Each scale is there in three different versions: The original with accompaniment, the modified rhythmic pattern, only the accompaniment. Book 2 has the more advanced beginners' scales (Eb-major, E-minor, D-minor, etc.).

Hi Barb,

The Dowani scale books volumes one and two come with CDs so that you can practice your scales to a backing track played by other stringed instruments. I found it particularly useful because I could hear my intonation errors clearly agains the other instruments.

The scale can be played as one long note to the bar, or a secondary rhythm pattern is suggested, but again playing the same note for the bar.

The scales in question are what you'd find in early repertoire, mostly major scales and then some minor scales added in. All are in 1st position.

I hope that helps, all the best, Chris
