Thanks Barbara! - 160bpm??? - blessed be the day i can play that fast! hehe But wouldnt it be .... if a half note is 80bpm, then the quarter note would be two notes of a half note, or 40 beats, of each 80 bpm? Thank you Daniel!, i think i will do that too... around 80 bpm. Looking forward to your post of Musette :0) Thanks Helene, i think thats the consensus... slow down, i will try. Even when i slow down I am tending to speed up int he 9-11 measures... i guess must be the speed racer in me! hehe |

Jaime, you're moving along very well and really fast! You just picked up book 2 and, at this rate, you'll need book 3 soon! I thought this was really well played. Personally, I would also slow down a bit because it feels rushed. I'm not sure either what Andante Pastorale means... Andante is ''at a walking pace'' and pastorale is ''in an idyllic manner'' so I picture a nice quiet stroll in a peaceful setting but Musette music is usually a little lively and you're right, all the renditions I can find for this piece (on any instrument) is a little fast. So it's probably my own shortcoming that I tend to slow things down... Well done! |

Please note Gians score says 80 for a half note not a quarter. Bpm is mostly played on quarter notes. This means that Gians score says 160 bpm per quarter. |

Thank you Maria! It was fun to memorize the tune. Interestingly slowing down to me makes it harder to shift around! Speeding up adds more "flow". Hard to explain. Don't worry, the "plancha" was off! Hehe Thanks George! Definitely will try to slow down, is just that I did try slower tempos, like I mention to Maria, more difficult. Is like a skier coming down a run, if it becomes less steep, it gets slower, therefore no "momentum" to slide across... (Still hard to explain!) Thanks Gian! Will try "allegro moderato". The only piano accompaniment to musette I found in YouTube is at 100bpm. Thanks again to everyone! Let's keep fiddlin' ! :0) |

I have checked my piano book. The piece is marked allegro moderato with a metronome mark of 80. Both indications are from the editor (Ettore Pozzoli) and not the author. |

It's more or less the tempo I used to play the piece on the piano (from the my first Bach book). Of course some performers of the complete english suite the musette is taken from play it much faster (e.g. Glenn Gould i think) but personally i do not dislike it being played at a calmer, more peaceful tempo, like an oasis of calm, particularly the second section :-)) |
