Hi Honchew, I'm pretty much a beginner, but don't sweat it. I've actually heard that vibrato is anything but easy. And in most cases, some suggest it can take a year or two. The only apparent truth i've seen is that through diligent practice (repetition), it will come sooner or later. I did find this interview very interesting. It seems that we all start trying to learn vibrato in a similar fashion, but sometimes it becomes a unique movement for an individual. And if it can be applied in all that we would choose to play, with variety and beauty, then goal accomplished. But again, I'm a beginner ( so i disclaim any igorance on my part lol). |

Vibrato is one of the things I am always struggling with and I get upset when people tell me it is easy.
My hands tends to freeze up when I am trying the vibrato and watching this video now makes me understand that perhaps I have been trying too hard.
And actually, I was always trying to move the hand... not the wrist.
But this shows me that the wrists needs to be flexible and move. I am going to try it! No one ever told me this before! |
