Hi all,
veeeery long time since i've been following up in VL.
There is only that much (little) free time in evenings and weekend, and it has been taken up by regular violin lesson, and, yes, viola lessons ! I now also play the viola.
Past Christmas holiday, I switched on a video camera while doing a read through of something I'd like to play, but a bit out of reach still, too ambitious. I rarely record my playing these days, so I thought, let's stitch the pieces together give an impression where I'm at at the moment.
I'd have to run through the video lessons again to see which ones can help me further to improve this.
best wishes for 2018 to everyone,
Lieven

Thanks a lot, Beth !
Very useful feedback, spot on... makes me want to go play right away, but it's past midnight here :-)
I'll will keep practicing this, step by step and slowly so that I don't spoil it with bad habits.
best regards,
Lieven

Lieven, I haven't visited that movement in a long time. I'll take a look and shoot a response video - soon.

Good to be back, I'll try to pass by more often :-)

I really like both the violin and the viola, equally. I was introduced to the viola by my interim violin teacher at the end of the academic year 2015-2016. He 's actually a violist and he is currently my voila teacher. So I'm actually in my second year for the viola.

Sorry, I forgot to mention, the piece is the end of Mozart's 4th violin concerto, the rondeau. Hence, too ambitious :-) My current teacher wouldn't let me play it yet for anything official, because it's very delicate. First things that came to mind when I saw myself playing is, to "clean up the playing", and my bow hold being too baroque-ish (I got that feedback after my last violin exam back in June). I a bit drawn to that, I got a baroque violin too, last summer.

Hallo Frieda, inderdaad, aangename kennismaking :-)

Lunch break is over, here, back to work,
kind regards
Lieven

Hi Lieven, I know the piece you're playing and can sing along, but can't remember the title. What is it?

Dear Lieven

Welcome back. Nice long piece. That must be quite a few pages long. You found something to keep you busy.

Hi Lieven and welcome back as you said it has been awhile since you were coming back to  violin lab. Nice bold sound and good blended notes and trills and fast fingers.

You play the viola and violin-which do you like better? I have wondered the difference between violin and viola. I have never played anything but violin. I don't know the difference between the two other than viola sounds lower and prettier sometimes and you play different notes than violin.
