Hi Guys,

I've worked myself back up through Suzuki to Minuet 1 after a very long break. I've only been working on it for about a week, but I thought I would go ahead and post it. If it seems any different after more time working on it, then I'll post again as it progresses.  Sometimes it seems like no matter how much time I spend on a piece, it always sounds the same! :( Thank you in advance!!

Regina, I'm in awe that you have such solid intonation and non-squeaks for a Book 1 piece.  Impressive!

Beth, thank you for that video. I realize you made it for Regina but it seems to speak directly to me on the matter of bow hand index finger being too high/strong especially near the frog.  I'm bookmarking this thread for further digestion!

Hi Regina, just putting out the disclaimer that I don't have my violin. I'm in Kentucky at my parent's house and using an instrument I brought to leave their for future video responses. My mom was on the couch watching me make this video. I'm not sure she completely understood what I was doing and why I was talking to the computer screen:)

In addition to my comments, I think you should watch the Expressive Phrasing videos #348-359. I think they will open you up to all kinds of possibilities with improving the status quo.

Thank you everyone! Those are great observations Dianne, and I see what you are talking about regarding the upper arm when I watch the video with no sound. I've always had some trouble with stiffness so I will continue to work on that. I purchased the Bon Musica shoulder rest and it has helped tremendously. My previous set up was not good and was causing extra stiffness. I've very happy with my purchase!

Welcome back Regina!
I echo Beth in praising your technique and the fact that you are back strong and solid! I see relaxed shoulders, excellent bow hold, great finger motion and violin hold. You also have impeccable intonation and the full use of the bow is superb!

Thank you for posting! :0)

Excellent job, Regina. I'm so happy to see you back playing! You still have that solid, confident sound, great finger action and superb coordination. If all goes well and I replace my laptop cord today, I'll be able to shoot you a response snd help give you ideas for improvement.
