Great playing! You played in such a relaxed/tranquil manner, almost floating in clouds. Looking 4ward on your next piece... |

Congratulations, Xing! What came to my attention first were exactly the things Dianne mentioned: your nice tone and the great and flexible bow hand. Really nice. I also was concerned about your bent neck. This will eventually present you with pain... I am not sure though whether the height of the chin rest is the problem or whether it is just a habit to hold the head sideways toward the violin. Do you know the site Violinist in Balance? I learned A TON about posture and how to adjust it from this site! But I think one of the very simple rules that would help you immediately is how to "approach" the violin: You turn (not bend!) your head toward the left to the chin rest and then give a slight nod. This should secure the hold on your violin. The other thing I noticed is the bow stroke you used for the hooked eigth and sixteenth notes. Have you watched the tutorials for witches dance? In the first of the tutorials Beth explains the special bow stroke that is used for this so you get a crisp sixteenth note and not just a slur. Happy practicing! |

Sounds great in tone and rhythm Bow pressure is my suggestion, I am not sure but just thinking maybe less and more bow pressure? I am no expert so just a thought sounds great |
