This discussion includes members-only video content Hi Everyone, I'm thrilled to see you all jumping on the Wohlfahrt op 45. no. 1 bandwagon and perfecting your detaché. I know the "dart throw" motion is a bit elusive and hardly looks different than any other detache stroke. It really is the difference between a loose or tight shoulder joint. Hope this video will help a bit. Beth Blackerby 5 Responses Posted: August 28, 2017 Last Comment: September 3, 2017 |

Wow...what a great video Beth I haven't worked on this Etude in a long time...but tomorrow I am going to practice this and think about the Dart throw. with a nice loose right shoulder with good posture. Thanks Beth. Thanks Mary for mentioning about the movement of the wrist as well. It is so subtle but an important component of the action with a nice relaxed shoulder. I had to go and view the video again to connect all the dots and through the dart! LOL. Thanks. Stay tuned. Diane in SoCal |

I noticed with the dart throw there is a lot more wrist motion |

Thank you thank you thank you!!! That was brilliant!!! Still I can see the subtle difference, very discreet, but when you explain about the "swivel" motion vs. the "forward" motion, it just makes it much much clear! Definitely an inspiration to practice some more! :0) I think ill practice with my video on next to your demo.... GREAT exercise! :0) |
