dear friends,

I have recorded Gavotte of Martini from Suzuki Book 3. Please give me your feedback

I have noticed that I have issues in the following areas:
1. Music expression where sound is still flat
2. Missing the notes in certain areas.

I'm not able to embed the link since I'm using an iPad and can't figure out how to do it. So here's the link.

Thanks Jaime & Diedre for the comments and encouragement.

I have discovered something, re: bow hold, that I'd like to share. When doing an up-bow, I think the third finger should uplift the bow a bit, to counter balance with the pressure or weight from the arm.  By doing this, I noticed that the sound becomes softer.

I'm impressed, Mohammed!

You are such a good and careful student of the violin that I think you already know what would be best for you to work on, so I'll just tell you what I admired.

You have lovely tone and fluidity, and you keep going! That makes everything in your performance look so polished - it's very educational for us all.

I don't think I could play without a shoulder rest, so I can't speak to the technical questions you have.

I enjoyed hearing you play - thank you!

Thanks Dianne for the interesting comment.  So basically, what you are suggesting is that when i move the scroll, I should flick the bow a little backward with the index to keep in the same sound lane.

After reading your comment, I went back and watched the video again.   You're right, the bow seems to be skidding towards the scroll, like a car on ice :))

Thanks Rustam for your constructive comments. Well noted.

Regarding the shoulder rest, I've strugled on & off, but i can't seem to be comfortable with one, it keeps slipping.  Besides I like the sensation of the violin vibrating into the body :)

I am still trying to find my way around playing with one.  Hopefully will get there.

By the way, How long do you think it will take until a piece like Gavotte is played in a clean & professional matter? This is the million dollar question that I'm not able to figure out :)))
