Beth, In reference to squeezing the thumb and first finger, I have that problem. Though, things are getting better as I do my lessons with you. For some reason, I squeeze more when I play Devil's Dream. I realize these aren't your type of songs, but I know you can shed light on the difficulties I may have while playing certain songs. Are you suppose to put more pressure on the bow for some song? I just feel so out of control playing Devil's Dream. Things will get better relearning the basics. I am sure! Thank you, Beth Dyan

Beth, Since there is so much to learn, how long should one focus on any one thing? Is it best to bounce back and forth, or what? Dyan

Hi Beth, I've heard how important it is to breath and count notes while playing. It seems like a lot to do, and concentrate on the music, too! Are you counting every note that you play, always?! Dyan

Hi Beth! I have a question about bowstrokes. When you start bowing you are at velocity zero, then you accelerate and sometime later you reach maximum speed. The question: Do you try to reach maximum speed very soon, is there a kind of momentum like when you hit something or so. How do you prepare - physically and/or mentally - this initial movement? (For me it is a little difficult to express this question, but probably you know what I mean.) Thanks.

Hi Beth! I have been going over Simon Fischer's Basics and I would love if you could make a demo/tutorial video on his exercises for "Long, slow sustained bows" (#31 through #34). I find that to be one of the most beautiful aspects of playing the violin, but also one of the most challenging techniques to master. I hope that I am not asking too much. ;-) Thanks!
